Process for preparing scalenohedral precipitated calcium carbonate

The present invention provides a process for preparing a precipitated calcium carbonate product. The process comprises the steps of preparing slaking quick time to obtain slaked lime; and subjecting the slaked lime, without agitation, without prior cooling in a heat exchanger, and in the absence of any additives, to carbonation with carbon dioxide as to produce PCC.

Calcium Carbonate Manufacturing Process and Equipment

Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) comprises more than 4% of the earth's crust and is found worldwide. Its most common natural forms are chalk, limestone, and marble (produced by the sedimentation of small fossilized shellfish, snails, and coral over millions of years). Chalk occurs as a microcrystalline material and has been use…

Reinforcing polypropylene with calcium carbonate of …

The influence of calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) with different polymorphs (calcite and aragonite) and morphologies (granular and rod-like) on mechanical and crystallization properties of polypropylene (PP) was investigated. Meanwhile, these CaCO 3 fillers coated with oleic acid were added in different contents to PP. The results indicate that the tensile strength, flexural …

Grinding calcium carbonate down to size

Ground calcium carbonate grains can be as coarse as 1,300 microns in poultry feed or as fine as 2 microns in paper coatings. Milling the limestone to the correct particle size distribution is a test for GCC processing. But addressing this challenge successfully makes the difference between high and low-quality calcium carbonate materials.
