7. WORKING OF AJM Abrasive jet machining is a process in which material removal takes place due to erosive action of a stream of fine-grained abrasive particles impacting at high velocity on the work surface. Fine-grained abrasive particles mixed in suitable portion with high pressure carrier gas, usually air, are directed through a suitably designed nozzle.

ABRASIVE JET MACHINING

In Abrasive Jet Machining (AJM), abrasive particles are made to impinge on the work material at a high velocity. The jet of abrasive particles is carried by carrier gas or air. High velocity stream of abrasive is generated by converting the pressure energy of the carrier gas or air to its kinetic energy and hence high velocity jet.

13. Advantages (continued) • Unlike machining or grinding, waterjet cutting does not produce any dust or particles that are harmful if inhaled. • The kerf width in waterjet cutting is very small, and very little material is wasted. • Waterjet cutting can be easily used to produce prototype parts very efficiently.

3. Introduction to Abrasive Jet Machining AJM is the process of impinging the high speed stream of abrasive particles like silicon carbide by high pressure gas or air on work surface through nozzle and removal occurs due to erosion. The water jet contains abrasive particles such as silicon carbide or aluminium oxide in order to increase the material removal rate. Almost any …

13. • Ultrasonic machining is a subtractive manufacturing process that removes material from the surface of a part through high frequency, low amplitude vibrations of a tool against the material surface in the presence of fine abrasive particles. The tool travels vertically or orthogonal to the surface of the part at amplitudes of 0.05 to 0.125 mm (0.002 to 0.005 in.).

Abrasive water jet machining | PPT

Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM) is a non-traditional machining process that uses a high-pressure stream of water mixed with abrasive particles to erode materials. 5. INTRODUCTION 5 • A grinding machine, often shortened to grinder, is any of various power tools or machine tools used for grinding, which is a type of machining using an abrasive wheel as the cutting tool. Each grain of abrasive on the wheel's surface cuts a small chip from the work piece via shear deformation. • Grinding is used to finish work pieces that must …
